Goulich the Foul once more heard the whispers from the abyss. Existing for almost 1000 years he had watched the humans grow from a weak superstitious rabble into the masters of the earth. Even with his night spawned powers and armies of foul servants he now feared these simple mammals. Soon enough humans would realize that dark forces stalked the shadows, and a war would begin, a war that the vampires would lose.
The voice whispered again, a voice even more ancient than his, a voice that spoke of a time before man, a time of primordial evil. It offered power, it offered vengeance, and it offered a way to bring the humans back to their weak animal roots. Long did Goulich ponder the offer before him, long indeed as time means little to ones as old as he. Centuries passed, and as his fear of the humans grew greater than his fear of the Old Ones the vampire lord headed the voice from the darkness.
A daemon in the semblance of a man was sent to him from the void, Nethram-Kahn (The Prince of Shadows ) to help prepare the way. They would send Goulich’s Blood Knights; his most powerful undead warriors to collect heads from the 13 clans of earth bound fiends. Once these 13 skulls were assembled, and the words were spoken the world would enter into the Blood Night, a time of chaos when the dead would rise and the Old Ones would walk the earth once more. Then at last mankind would be little more than terrified helpless food.
With each skull claimed, a new calamity would befall the world as ancient horrors would be released to ravage and destroy:
- A Skull from an Angel of Death would bring the Hemophores, eyeless flesh eating monsters to hunt and feed.
- A Skull from a Nosferatu would lure the Ferals, blood seeking primal vampires.
- A Skull from a Netherspawn would raise the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
- A Skull from a Primal Tyrant would free the Shadows Out of Time.
- A Skull of a Risen would reanimate the ancient dead, the Blind Monks of the Hidden Flame.
- A Skull from an ID Beast would usher in the Curse of Madness.
- A Skull from a Harvestman would return the Demons of the Wood to the Earth.
- A Skull from a Collector would release the Spirits of the Dead.
- A Skull from an Abomination would loose a plague of Nightmare Creatures from the darkest depths of the sea.
- A Skull from a Cursed would awaken the Elemental of Stones.
- A Skull from a Leviathan would summon the Worms of the Earth.
- A Skull from a Carnivore would set free the Wendigo, Cannibal Beast of the Frozen North.
- The Skull of Goulich’s Bride was the final element that would bring about the BLOOD NIGHT, when the dead would rise and the Old Ones would return.
THEN the world would be wrapped in a shroud of rancid darkness and creatures of the shadows would run free.
Goulich eyed Nethram Kahn greedily - Once the spell was complete he would crush this gargoyle prince and take control of the shattered planet.
Deep inside Nethram Kahn laughed - To him a thousand year old vampire was but a worm - his masters were older than the universe itself. The Blood Night was but a beginning, the Dawn of the Haunted Earth!
